Investment in the latest retinal imaging technology is a commitment to grow your practice years into the future. Improve your bottom line and customer retention with innovations in eye care that help patients receive the best care possible. Features such as multimodality are helping to save sight with the early detection of potential disease and disorders. Advancements in eye care also reduce NHS waiting times and protect the lives of patients.
Regular comprehensive eye exams are crucial for detecting and managing diabetic eye issues. Diabetic retinopathy, for example, can often be treated more effectively if caught early. If you have diabetes, it's essential to work closely with your healthcare team to control your blood sugar levels, manage your overall health, and have regular eye exams to catch any potential eye problems early.
At Optos, our technology facilitates the early detection, management and effective treatment of disorders and diseases evidenced in the retina such as diabetic retinopathy. More than 2,500 published and ongoing clinical trials as well as thousands of case studies and testimonials show the long-term value of optomap imaging in diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient engagement in diabetic screening and diabetic eye exams. Each year, November 14th is recognized as World Diabetes Day and this year’s theme is “Education to Protect Tomorrow”. Understanding the condition is the first step towards managing and preventing it. One in 10 adults around the world currently live with diabetes, an estimated 537 million people. Almost half do not know they have it.
Optos would like to wish you all a happy and safe Halloween. To protect your vision, make sure you and your family receive an annual retinal exam that includes optomap®.
In a climate of economic uncertainty, Optometrists with independent or small practices face several business challenges. Our research has revealed three key indicators impacting customer retention and financial growth.
Ultra-widefield multimodal imaging is an important clinical and research tool. By combining images from different modalities, clinicians can develop a detailed understanding of functional and morphologic aspects of various retinal diseases.
Optos offers multimodal imaging with all of its ultra-widefield imaging devices and has been shown to enhance pathology detection and disease management as well as improve clinic flow.
The optomap image provides them the assurance they want that the retinal looks healthy. In fact, they almost immediately saw the value of doing optomap images on everyone. “In the first week we had the California, we saw at least two patients with retinal holes way out in the periphery, and we had a 15-year-old asymptomatic patient with a retinal tear,” he says. Because of the ultra-widefield single-capture image that optomap provides, these findings were easily detectable on the image but might have been harder to spot with dilation alone.
3D Wrap allows practitioners to give patients a virtual tour of their eye, showing them where the retina is located and providing the opportunity to explain other parts of the eye. This is done by creating an animated 3D Wrap sequence of an optomap image, displayed as a 3-dimensional graphic model of their eye.
The summer itself has flown by and it's that time of year again where back-to-school lists become a priority. As adults run around stores trying to make sure the children have everything they need to be successful throughout the school year, it is important to remember to schedule that all-important eye exam - and with August being Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month what better time to put it on the list!
