Optos and prominent optomap® users shortlisted for The Optician Awards
After being among the finalists for ‘Product of the Year’ for Daytona plus at the 2018 AOP Awards, we are pleased to announce that Optos has been shortlisted as ‘2018 Optical Supplier of the Year’ at the upcoming Optician Awards, “the benchmark of excellence in the Optical community”.
This year’s awards are even more exciting for Optos as we learn that a range of our UK customers have also made the finals across several categories.
H&H Eyecare have owned their Daytona plus as part of their impressive equipment portfolio since they opened their family run practice in June 2015 and recently made the news with the exceptional level of care they showed when detecting optic disc swelling in one of their young patients during a routine eye exam. The patient was immediately referred to Manchester Children’s Hospital where tests revealed pressure in his brain, which is now being treated accordingly. It comes as no surprise that the practice has been shortlisted as The Family Optician of the Year.
Another Optos customer in the running is Faye McDearmind of Campbell & McDearmid Optometrists, who is nominated as Contact Lense Practitioner of the Year. Faye recently spoke at our UK Optometry Roadshow about their successful integration of optomap retinal imaging and disclosed how ultra-widefield technology can benefit practices of all sizes.
Two strong contenders in the category Technology Practice of the Year are the Glasgow Fenwick Road branch of Black & Lizars, which is part of one of Scotland's largest independent optical groups and have agrowing number of our devices in their practices, as well as Hammond & Dummer Opticians who also presented at the recent UK Optometry Roadshow.
Nominated as both Children’s Contact Lense Practice of the Year and Independent Practice of the Year is one of our newest customers Keith Murphy Opticians, who only had their Daytona plus installed last month.
Further nominees also working with Optos ultra-widefield technology are Glass and Glass Optometrists (The Practice Growth Award), Wardale Williams (The Family Optician of the Year), David Burghardt Vision Care (Enhanced Optical Service Award and Optical Assistant Team of the Year), Alison Edwards at BBR Optometry (Leader of the Future Award), Indie Grewal at Leighton’s Opticians and Hearing Care (Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year), as well as Cameron Optometry (Children’s Contact Lense Practice of the Year and The Practice Growth Award).
Good luck from Optos to all our customers, and for those attending the awards ceremony, we look forward to seeing you later this month!
